Why Is My iPhone 13 Pro Max Not Charging

Recently, my iPhone 13 Pro Max stopped charging, and I was worried about my battery and the iPhone.

If you rely on your phone just like me, it will be one of the most frustrating things. Distressed feeling, I started my research to find the root cause of the problem. I overviewed all the possible hardware and software aspects.

Here’s what I found about the issue:

  • Faulty charging cable or adapter
  • The mobile case is making a hurdle
  • The camera causes the mobile to move away from the wireless charger
  • Electricity problem in the socket
  • Using a Non-certified charger or cable
  • Damaged or dirty mobile charging port

Now, let me show you the best ways to resolve this problem:

6 Strategies to Solve Charging Problems on iPhone 13

1. Check the Charging Cable and USB Adapter

In my opinion, check your charging cable for damage, like breaks or bent parts. Also, look at your USB adapter to ensure it’s okay. In many cases, your electric socket is faulty and is unable to provide the proper connection between the charger and the

The second most common reason is your charging lightning cable. If it is broken or faulty, then it might not be able to charge your mobile well. You can confirm it by connecting it to a computer and seeing if it’s working there.

It can be hard to determine if a Lightning cable is going bad because they don’t always break suddenly. That is one of the reasons your cable is not working as a data cable. So, when you are trying to fix the problem, make sure to look closely at the cable normally. I enjoy how easy is to determine the cause.

  • Ensure there is no dirt on the ends of the cable or in the USB adapter ports.
  • Check the charging cable and USB adapter for any visible signs of damage like bends, cuts, or frays.

Check the Charging Cable

  • Confirm that the cable and adapter are compatible with your iPhone model.
  • Plug the adapter into different outlets to rule out any issues with the power source.
  • Test your iPhone with a different charging cable and USB adapter to see if the problem persists.

Check USB Adapter

  • Grab a flashlight and examine both ends of your Lightning cable up close. These cables often wear out and can start to fray, particularly near the Lightning connector.

2. Try To Use a Wireless Charger

Another method I used was to try a wireless charger to charge my mobile. The mobile was charging perfectly with the wireless charger. There, I concluded that my charging cable was at fault.

To verify, I connected it to my laptop and then to my phone, which was not working. There, I identified the real problem. In this case,

  • Buying a certified Apple charger cable from any Apple outlet is best.
  • Use a wireless charger to charge your mobile.

3. Remove Dirt from the Charging Port

If you are facing constant issues with the charging port, check for any debris inside and remove it. I have made it a monthly routine to clean my phone properly, including the charging port.

Moreover, you must firmly connect your mobile with the cable to avoid disconnection. I also suggest you take a closer look at your charging port. If the port looks damaged, it may need to be fixed by a professional.

  • Watch closely into the charging port for any dirt or debris.
  • If you see debris in your phone’s charging port, remove it carefully with a needle. You can also use a brush to clean the exterior of the port.
  • If you are not confident enough, then I suggest you seek professional assistance.

4. Force Restart Your Mobile

In the worst case, your wireless charger is also not working. Then, you will need to restart your mobile to see if it is a software glitch.

  • Here is how: “Press and let go of the volume up button, then do the same with the volume down button.”
  • Now, hold the buttons until your mobile phone restarts.
  • I highly recommend you charge your phone after restarting or keep it connected to the charger for 40 to 50 minutes.

5. Put Your iPhone In DFU Mode

If you’ve tried everything else and still have issues with your iPhone, doing a DFU restore is the final step to see if there’s a software problem.

Here are some straightforward steps I use to put my iPhone into DFU mode:

  • Connect your iPhone to your computer. Use a Lightning cable to connect your iPhone to a computer with iTunes installed.
  • Launch iTunes on your computer.
  • Press and release the Volume Up button gently.
  • Press and release the Volume Down button gently.
  • Then press and hold the main button until it restarts.

  • Hold both buttons for about 5 seconds, and after that, release the side button while holding the Volume Down button for at least another 5 seconds.
  • If your phone is not starting up, then you are in the DFU mode.

6. Take Precautions

Before you try big fixes like a DFU restore on your iPhone, It is a good idea to back it up first. If anything goes wrong during the process, you won’t lose any of your important stuff like contacts, photos, or apps.

If your phone loses battery completely, you must be prepared to save your data. In case you don’t know the exact cause of the problem, this step could save your data from damage.

  • Go to the Settings app.
  • Tap on your name at the top and tap iCloud.

Take Precautions

  • Scroll down and tap iCloud Backup.
  • Make sure the switch is on. “You’ll see it turn green.”
  • Tap (Back Up Now.)
  • A status bar will show you how long it will take.

Conclusion

If your iPhone 13 Pro Max isn’t charging, there are a few things you can check. I wouldn’t say you must check the accessories, like the MagSafe Duo charger, are compatible.

Check the charging cable for any damage and clean the charging port gently. Try charging your phone using different methods.

Before trying big fixes like a “force restart or a DFU restore,” it is good to back up your iPhone I especially appreciate it because this step can save your precious data. After that, you won’t lose your data if anything goes wrong.
